How can I change the date and the ships in my fleet using a hex editor? I would also be interested in knowing how messing about with the date would affect the game. Are events like Spathi slave shielding, Pkunk journey to Yehat and Kohr-Ah victory directly connected to the date or do they run on a separate timer?

Spathi slave shield a certain time interval after you report to their High Council your cleansing of the Evil Ones from the face of Spathiwa. (three months?) The Pkunk begin their journey to the Yehat a certain time interval after you meet them and then, if you make them return home with the Ouija Board trick, after they get home again the counter resets to zero and they re-begin their voyage after it reaches the same value needed for their initial voyage. The Kohr-Ah always begin cleansing in a certain day of the year 2159 (17 February?) or the year 2160 if the Supox and Utwig have fought them.
