When i install star control onto my computer, i can run it and everything but there is no sound!!!

Hello.
What operating system are you using? Can you give us any information about your computer?
Also, for future reference, you can help others help you by making more descriptive subjects for new threads (ex. "Sound problem" instead of "HELP, i need HELP".

UQM works fine for me on Intel AC97 hardware under XP, so it should work on your hardware, too. I'd check the following:
- Is UQM using OpenAL or MixSDL sound? If it's OpenAL, use the UQM configuration menu to change to MixSDL and restart UQM.
- Are all relevant volume settings (wave and master, usually) high enough?
- Does sound work in other games? If not, you may have a driver problem.
