I'm having trouble getting the installer to work. I'm running Windows 2000. I've tried to make the installer work by doing two things:
1. Double-clicking on it in the ordinary way 2. Running dosBox, then attempting to run the program from there
When I do 1, I get the following error report from Windows: 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem C:\starcon\uqm-06~1.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0dcf IP:01b5 OP:63 26 20 4f 70 Choose 'Close' to terminate the applicaiton.
If I choose "Ignore" instead, I get several similar messages. If I ignore them all, eventually it just sits there and does nothing.
If I do 2, the computer simply sits around and does nothing, or perhaps it is doing something but not getting anywhere with it.
Any help on what I should do? Does the program run on Win2K?
This sounds like a badly downloaded installer file. This can happen for instance when you select "save as" on a link, and actually save the "select a mirror" download page as an .exe file.
The installer and game do normally work on Windows 2000.

Thanks. The problem was pretty obvious once you pointed it out. The files did look rather small, but I wasn't thinking about that. "The game is pretty old" is what I was thinking and therefore expecting something small....but obviously 16.8k is ridiculous! Anyway, I'm downloading it again the right way. Thanks again.
