SC2 Development costs.
« on: July 01, 2007, 08:59:29 pm »

Having recently noticed that Half-Life 2 cost 40 million dollars to develop, and that Gears of War cost 10 million (And I'm really doubting the original Unreal was anywhere near that) I started wondering about the development costs of old games (mostly because I can't imagine them being in the millions). So, yeah. any info on what SC2 and maybe the 3DO port with the voice work cost to develop?

Your best bet would be to ask the developers themselves, but I'm not sure if they'd give you a straight answer, because anything regarding money is usually confidential.

Off the top of my head, I know that they went past their deadline for SC2, and worked on the game without overtime pay in some cases.  Also, according to Wikipedia, there are currently about 45 employees, and they had much less people working around 1992 when SC2 was made.
