I don't remember where Grakelin came from. I've taken to using characters from my stage performances now, though.

I happen to really like the Androsynth.... I tried to use one of the captain names XR4-TI, but I spelled it wrong and got XR4-IT.
Oddly I use XR4-IT just about anywhere now on the net. or when writing letters to friends... I know I'm odd.

R-Type was taken on another board and suggested RTyp06 instead. I went with it and use it on several boards now. Never bothered to try R-Type again.

When first coming up with an Internet alias, I found myself rather horrible at coming up with names.
Then, the idea struck: If I can't think of a name, why not go nameless? Disregard the irony of such a name for a moment.
I tacked on the "Player" bit to convery my gamer nature, though I think I'm about to dump it for "Fragger" since it sounds cooler to me.

The Ancient One

When I first started at University, I got my first personal computer. It ran the immensely powerful Win98, and for some reason insisted that I create a "user account" (Something good old DOS never did). At the time I was reading a book by Stephen King (or possibly Dean Koontz). The story escapes me, something about a mad stepfather and a little girl, and some unlikely heroes that saved the girl from an abandoned house or some such. Anyhow, the girl had a brother who was born with sever deformities. Their drug-addled mother named him Lukipela, which apparently means "The Devil" in Hawaian. The kid was already dead when the book began, he was just mentioned in a few lines. The crazy parents told the girl that her brother was "with the aliens now".
To cut a long and boring story short, that name had been floating around my subconscious, so I used it. Then, about a year later my part of campus was finally connected to the net, and this opened a wealth of possibilities (ICQ, forums, and so on). At this point I just decided to stick with Lukipela. It's not as original as I'd like, but neither am I. So it'll do.

Lukipela is a very original nickname. When I did a search some time ago on Google to find out what it means, I was very surprised that it's "devil".
Well, to be honest, I even accused you of a bit of satanism.

Wullh. Kaelos has a bit of an interesting name, and he only uses it in about three sites. See, long time ago, he'd just sat down to his first game of UQM. But whatever should he name his captain? Normally, he names his characters Pyrogoeth (another nickname, with a dumb, Runescape related story behind it, so don't ask) or Pyleic (A combination of the aforementioned Pyrogoeth, and his first and one of his middle names, Eric and Alex, coined by an old friend who called him all three), but none of them seemed right.
Well, he tried naming his captain Artur, and his ship the Excalibur, but that got boring. So, off he went to do some random web browsing while he thought.. Later that day, he went to the lake, and had fun, and when he got home, he decided to just forget about naming the Captain anythign special and just give him the first word he thought of. Which happened to be Lakes, for obvious reasons. But, his sister said that was a dumb name, so he made it Laekios, for good measure. Then, of course, his brother decided that that wasn't manly enough, so Kaelos re-arranged the letter to the less melodic Kaelos. The i got lost somewhere.
And that, also, is why Kaelos talks in the third person, because it's been a running joke since that day that he has no personal pronouns since he lost his i. That, and it seems to annoy certain people, always a plus.

My nickname comes from a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, in which Calvin brings a supposed alien to school for show and tell in a "zarnium coated bag."
Also, in case no one has figured it out, my signature is palindrome. I read it in a book.

Scum? I don't think so. "Master" is more like it.

Well, I got this name a few years ago when I first started playing the port of Doom for 32-bit Windows systems known as ZDoom, I needed a name for my marine (And I was estatic about this feature, because as many of you probably know, there was no naming of your marine. Hell, there wasn't any kind of character customization in the original Doom). I first used Badass, but, that got old really fast, especially when that obituary was displayed that said "Badass was splattered by a Cyberdemon".
So, I went and downloaded ZDaemon (which was pretty much a CS system for it). Of course, I had to go do something (I don't remember right now), so dad took over and made his own account and started playing. When I got back from doing whatever it was I was doing, I asked him what his character's name was. "Rico Yungblud" I asked him where that came from, and He said he used it when he played Quake online, and that it came from "The Untouchables", as a combination of two of the characters' names. I thought for a minute, because this gave me an idea. Since dad's first name is Richard, and Rico is kind of a snazzy version of that, I could make a snazzier version of my first name, and throw Yungblud at the end of it, and it would work well. Well, after 5 years, it hasn't gone away, and I still love it.
