Poll
Question: What would you do if you suddenly made a LOT of money? (note: you don't have to spend it immediately, you can e.g. found a company etc.)
Keep it for yourself
Use it for the poor people
Use it to help TFB make a Star Control sequel
Use it for sponsoring science/technology etc. (founding a game company included)
Keep it for yourself, but grant some for the poor people
Keep it for yourself, but grant some to TFB
Keep it for yourself, but sponsor science/technology etc. too (founding a game company included)
Keep it for yourself and your family and friends (founding a game company etc. may be included)

Another option should have been using the money to build a Precursor-style tug, and explorin this little section of space Tongue First stop, Pluto!

Perhaps slightly boring, but I'd do the same as D_S. Invest, accumulate and live off the interest. As the fortune increases, I would slowly ramp up my standard of living from "semi-comfortable post-university graduate" to "comfortable middle-class businessman". You don't have to live flashy to live nice.

Of course, if I won an insane amount of money, I'd probably use some of it on things such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Case_For_Mars

Do you mean you would publish similar books or are you the world's only gamer who actually enjoyed playing Outpost?

I enjoyed outpost, and would publish books, yes. You see, a tree killed my grandfather, and I can think of no more fitting revenge than to turn them into books. All that evil cruelty, transformed into joyous knowledge. This is also why i print every topic I participate in.

I didn't see this option, so I didn't vote. I'd divide the money (if it's a large amount)
into approx. three equal parts. One part would go into stable, long-term investment. The
second would go towards family and friends, notably those living with debt.
The last one would, shall we say, go toward increasing my standard of living,
especially in the travel.
Where I'm from (east Canada), I can live off about 10k a year, so I could be very comfortable
with a yearly alotment of 30k+.

Well, the option is now available.

My condolences.
(And thanks for printing the Wanted for Galvennmeister and Lucas Matheus. This way, they are more likely to be caught.
By God, when I GET MY GRASP OVER THEM! I want them JAILED! I want it badly!)

I'm not sure if you're trying to be funny or obtuse. Looking through what I have missed turned up some clues, but the evidence is inconclusive at best. Nice try with the Injection though, pity it didn't work. Still, you know what they say about good intentions.

I must admit this is getting funnier (and I'm getting tired since it's 10:38 PM), but what clues are you talking about? Anything that would help me catch LM&G is good.

Those are are out in the open and easy to see of course. But then again, the obvious is not always the relevant.

Either you're joking, or you don't know what you're missing.

Although, I'd imagine it would be possible without kids. Or a spouse.

If you are smart with your money it's not that hard to get by on smaller sums. For instance, I live in the centre of a medium sized city in Finland (Åbo) and share a 2 room apartment in the city centre with my girlfriend who is still studying. We both get by quite well on my wage (approx 30.000 €/year) and even manage to put some away for savings. And this is in one of the more expensive E.U countries. I wasn't trying to save money for the future, I could live quite comfortably as it is. Even with saving money, my life isn't exactly filled with hardships.

Of course, this might be because I'm handling the economy. My girlfriends response to this thread was "Well I'd obviously use it all, money is made for spending. There's no point in just having it."
