Seeing as some of you enjoy endless nagging about the missing dialog, I thought you might like this: http://uqm.stack.nl/diff/.
It's not perfect; a few bugs still exist, but I think you'll find it useful regardless.

That's gold Meep-Eep, thanks. Some really critical stuff is missing from the Melnorme which i didint realise.

Here's my favourite piece of missing (altered) text) Zelnick to slylandro:
"We travel the galaxy, seeking intercourse with other sentients"

a shame they changed that gem...

Hm, there's more missing than I realized. And a lot of it is interesting and/or at least somewhat important (such as the Melnorme telling you that a caster will summon them, or the Druuge telling you that you can still trade at their homeworld after you attack them).

Similarly, the Syreen line "We make out all right with just us females." is now just "We make out all right."

I guess with spoken voice the innuendo isnt so subtle.

Apart from that 'censoring' I would say alot of the differences are down to poor quality control. The original PC text was well crafted and well written. It is almost as if the voice actors read the PC text, made a few mistakes, and then the 3DO script writers transcribed the voice actors' efforts (mistakes and all) into new text for the 3DO. Weird as that sounds.

Very cool meep-eep, awesome to see it all layed out like that.

Heheh

3DO:
Quote
you will have to appease ZEX, or kill him.

DOS:
Quote
you will have to appease ZEX because, I fear, killing him will be virtually impossible
due to his exceptional battle skills and the huge personal fleet he possesses.

Oh yeah, and the grammar has taken a dive too for some reason.

Uh, the 3DO version never had any text. UQM uses text from the 3DO version's script that has been carefully edited to match the speech (see e.g. bug #43).

Woops, my mistake. Hmm that makes more sense. There must have been some unintentional loss of dialogue i the transfer between script and voice acting for 3dO. Maybe liberties taken by the actors?

As for the grammar, jeez I’m not surprised. Considering the massive job someone in the UQM team (or whoever) had transcribing the voice acting (in their spare time no doubt) I think they did an amazing job.

I hope I haven't offended anyone!

Now, really, why don't you fix Zelnick's quotes and spelling/punctuation or line-ordering (for example,
never,
EVER
instead of "never, EVER") mistakes?

And Yehat "BRAAK!" exclusions can be solved by splicing - it's a single word, in fact not even a word, only a sound.

In the case of changes to Zelnick's dialogue, there was no voice actor involved to mess up the lines, so I think we can assume that Zelnick's 3DO lines are intentional improvements on the PC version. I also suspect that the Yehat "BRAAK"s and "HOOT"s were left out because they sounded silly. As far as I can tell, where the PC and UQM line breaks differ, the UQM version makes more sense (and is also the version in the 3DO script, on which the UQM version is based).
