Whale's Voyage II anyone?

A few days ago I told a friend, who also plays PC games, about Star Control II and he was like "hey, sounds very much like a game I used to play..." but he did not know the name of it, but he was sure "Star Control" or "Ur Quan Masters" was not the name.

Today we met in ICQ again and he managed to find out the name of the game: Whale's Voyage II.

A quick search on google turns out this game seems to be freeware today, so I will propably give it a shot.

Does anyone here know that game? Is it really similar to Star Control II? Did you like it? Or anything else you wish to add  Wink


Edit: The name suggests there most likely would be a prequel to that game, so if someone only nows the first part, post anyway...

I've seen Whale's Voyage, but not Whale's Voyage 2. From what little I saw of the first one, it's nothing like Star Control. You make a group of characters [some look like humans, others look like Ur-qaun, and some look like half-breed freaks] and have them wander around doing bizarre stuff. The plot of the game was amusing enough, but the game play was a bit lacking. [to me anyway]

But maybe the second one improved.
