How to enable voice and 3DO music on Ubuntu 7.04?
« on: May 30, 2007, 02:47:17 am »

Hi, I recently downloaded and installed Ur-Quan Masters by using apt-get and notices that I can't enable voice and 3DO music because it wasn't included in the package. So how do I install both of these content?

I locate Ur-Quan Masters folder on my computer and it wasn't like the one show on wiki (there is no package folder, no .uqm file in there. Thanks for all the help. Smiley

Hmm, according to my installation, apt thinks there's supposed to be two packages named "uqm-voice" and "uqm-music", respectively, but they do not appear to be available in the repository:

Code:
[~] happy: sudo apt-get install uqm-voice
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package uqm-voice is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package uqm-voice has no installation candidate
[~] happy: sudo apt-get install uqm-music
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package uqm-music is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package uqm-music has no installation candidate

Lame.  I'd say yell at the package maintainers (which according to the package is ubuntu-motu@lists.ubuntu.com, and not anybody around these forums) if such things interest you, but if you want to get it working "right now", you can download the content from here and put it where Ubuntu installs the game, namely /usr/share/games/content/packages

Thank you! copy voice & 3DO music .uqm into /usr/share/games/content/packages works! This is just great. Thanks again mate! Smiley

Same problem as the other zodmaner...
This got the job done for me.
Code:
sudo mkdir /usr/share/games/uqm/content/packages
sudo mv uqm-0.6.0-voice.uqm /usr/share/games/uqm/content/packages/.

Just installed UQM 0.6.2 on Ubuntu 7.10.
For your information, installing voice is slightly different here.
Open the voice UQM file with Archive manager, extract it to a directory where you have access to, then copy the contents to the /usr/share/games/content directory ( with sudo, of course ).
For Voice: You'll find a directory named "comm" in the UQM archive, and just place the files in the content/comm directory. It will work now.
