I seem to find myself in quite a predicament. I headed to the Mycon homeworld Epsilon Scorpii to get the necessary information for Talana. Unfortunately after talking with the Mycon on their homeworld I end up in combat with them. There seems to be a neverending number of their ships and I can't hold out. Is this supposed to happen? I just wanted to talk not fight

You need to send your flagship into the battle, then warp out. That will return you to the Epsilon Scorpii system; you might have to fight through some Mycon patrols, but at least those aren't endless.
Since this is based on the 3DO version, I don't know what the warp-out command is, but I bet there's a readme or something that'll tell you.

Hold Numpad Plus and Space at the same time. GET FAR AWAY FROM HIM AND TRY TO DRAIN HIS FUEL, FIRST. Doing this will cause you to stand in place for a period of time helpless. This makes even the SPATHI charge you weapons blazing. After flashing long enough, you warp out.

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

Since you are no longer affected by gravity, you should do this RIGHT NEXT TO THE PLANET so that the enemy cannot remain engaged for long (unless he's arilou). Also, if they come in close, you may destroy them by letting them bump into you and bounce into the planet. More free time!
Do NOT do this to Tanaka, since it could kill him.
Also, if you are fighting an infinite stream, start the escape sequence the moment that you destroy one ship, so that you have all of that victory time to charge up the warp engines.
