I'm not sure if any of you have heard of this, but Ogame is a spacey online psuedo-MMO. Its actually a browser game. You start out with one underdeveloped planet, and the point of the game is to build up that planet, colonize others, and build a fleet. Since this is online, you'are constantly competing with thousands of other people, whether they're attacking you, or you're raiding their resources stockpiles .

If you're interested at all, hit the link and you can read a little more about it and see some screenshots. If you decide to make an account, my advice to you would be to make it on universe 32. That's the newest one, so there aren't any super-players yet.
If you have any questions, look my up ingame. My username is Kalmarez.

I remember playing this game and getting ultimately bored
Then when you set up a planet some bigger fish (advanced player) or a swarm of piranhas (clan) or a pack of sharks (advanced clan) comes along and wrecks it all, or delegates you to one of their fallow farming worlds and you can't do a thing.
Then what do we get when we're in battle? reams of text, at least D&D had a better feeling as to what was going off but this..

This reminds me of a game I played several years ago called 'Planetarion'. It had the exact same vulnerability--power aggregated and then spiraled out of control. Pretty kick ass for the few on the top but absolute shaite for the other 10,000 players.

yeah, thats usually how it is, but I got lucky on this one coincidentally, the day I felt like making an account was the day the new server opened up

The browser game I like, Kingdom of Loathing, has comparatively minimal player interaction - PvP has its leaderboard, but losing isn't all that bad. PvP is almost cooperative in some cases.
And the only other browser game I ever used was some vampire game where technically you could hurt other players, but not much.
