I recently got my hands on a 3DO demo discs called "Sample This!", which contains 2 demos of games made by TFB: The Horde, and Star Control II. I tried to make an ISO of it, but it would not even start, and simply abort. I resorted to make a binary image of it, and the unCDROM program still would not read it:
Code:
Looking for 3DO CD-ROM disc header in image: "samplethis.bin" Test of sector: 317864 File: "samplethis.bin" is not MODE1/2048 3DO CD-ROM images
I am aware that it is intended for ISOs, but I can't find a way to make an ISO from this CD. I used PowerISO to create the BIN file. I never had this problem when I was making an image of the original Star Control II full 3DO cd.
Sorry, it was a false alarm. I found an alternative program called MagicISO, and it copied the CD without any problems. I searched for the problem on Google, and I didn't find much help. I'll let you all know how the demo disc goes once I start playing it some more if any of you are interested.
I don't know why it didn't work when you tried to create an ISO image. With bin/cue, the .bin file can contain different formats of CD images, and the .cue file specifies what format is used. Unless I'm terribly mistaken, the MODE1/2048 format gives you a .bin file which is actually the same as an .iso file.
If you tell your ripping program to rip the CD-ROM in raw mode you probably get a MODE2/2352 .bin file, which is probably what you did. If you can rip in cooked mode, you'll probably get a .bin file which you can use. If you can't get that to work, you should be able to find a program to convert your MODE2 .bin to a MODE1 .bin (or iso) file.
