Fwiffo sounds like Dr Strangelove...
« on: July 21, 2007, 06:34:58 am »

Hi guys, just found out about this site and the re-release of SC2 - Ur Quan Masters. Cheesy

Got to say I'm stoked. Playing the game again now...

One question - when did the aliens obtain voices? I'm sure they weren't in the original game...personally I find some of them a bit annoying, like the Moonbase Commander, but Fwiffo sounds just like Dr Strangelove, does he not? Wonder if this is deliberate?

Anyway, thanks for re-releasing this game! Man, I love SC2. Grin

Star Control 2 was ported to a console called the 3DO. They changed the game a little bit around for it, including adding some voice acting. If you don't like the voices, you can turn them off. That's what I did.

Jetau: Go here, http://www.babbelirc.com/index.lasso?go=download and get this IRC client.
Then join us in #uqm-arena on irc.freenode.org, and lets play some network supermelee!  Grin

Aw shucks. Thanks for the offer, but I need to brush up on my technique a bit first. It's been years since I played this game. I'm still trying to remember how to use each ship etc. I love the Spathi ship, especially the 'butt' missle. Cheesy

It's not much use against human players.

No, but it kicks ass against the Sylandro, and Ilwrathi for that matter.

I'm curious...which are the best ships v human? I remember playing Super-Melee back when I was about 12/13 years old (when the game came out), and the best ship were the Utwig, Chenjesu (sp?) and the Ur Quan/Korh An. Personally, I love the Orz the best. Cool

Except inpatient ones like me who want to kill the wimp quickly and therefor run in to them.

Approximately, the most overpowered ones are Kohr-Ah, Mmrnmhrm, and Androsynth. If you want lots of discussion on the subject, you can come to #uqm-arena Tongue

Hmm, it might be interesting to see the most active melee fighters give out some sort of small strategy guide at some point. I mean, before the addition of NetMelee, people only ever combated close friends, and usually not many of those either. This whole NetMelee thing is probably bringing in a lot of valuable experience in the human vs human field.  While I doubt any guide would ever reach AngryShrews level, some tips  and tricks might be interesting, and help beginners.
