Umm Yeah. Well I was up way to late one night; and decided I liked this Cake song. So… I tried to put together a video with it. Embarrassingly, to someone who knows nothing about UQM, this video won't make much sense. Actually, I'm sure it won't make much sense anyway. The timing is horrible and is mostly me messing around in lightwave. Even more embarrassingly, I misspelled Sourceforge at the end. I had posted it once for about five minutes before Meep-Eep kindly removed the thread for me. Let it be known that this is in no way a good example of the best I can create when drunk and sleepy. I trashed all applicable files on my computer after. But I decided to relent and show this crap to you guys anyway. I’m going to catch shrapnel for this I’m sure, but I think it’s worth at least one laugh. Don’t expect much though!

Heh. I was just about to PM you to ask why you removed the thread. The whole video looks like something from a "Making of" documentary. Besides, I'm interested in seeing what sort of progress you've been making.
I've been looking into adding support for your videos to UQM; it seems the way to go is to link to FFmpeg. FFmpeg plays lots of common video formats (everything you've produced that I've seen so far, including the Windows Media stuff in this video!) and is common on Linux systems and an important component in many open-source video players; it appears to be stable, maintained and portable. Copyright is not a problem; FFmpeg is LGPL. If we need to dodge patent problems (or save space) when distributing binaries, we can disable unnecessary codecs when compiling. FFmpeg's I/O system maps almost directly onto UQM's UIO (no surprise; both are based on standard C I/O). We can output either to UQM's graphics system (320x240, 640x480 in scaled modes) or use video overlays (any resolution we like, although exceeding the users' display resolution is kind of pointless; 640x480 is probably a good compromise). The latter gets a bit tricky if we want to pause the video at some point and add text or something.
In any case, if this "Building a Religion" video is your status report, I should have UQM ready for your videos before you've finished making them.
