I'm running Windows XP on a relatively new Dell Inspiron laptop. Everything about UQM works fine, except I can't get UQM to recognize the Logitech controller in the Controls Setup. All I can find in the forums are scattered references to individual problems, and the explanation in the keys.old file is not self-evident. Is there one master document that walks through the entire process of setting up a game controller?
You may solve the issue by deleteing the melee.cfg file. (UQM will make a new one at startup)
In Windows XP, the melee.cfg file is in your Documents and Settings folder under the account where UQM was installed. It's in a normallly hidden folder called "Application Data". The path to the file should look like this: C:\Documents and Settings\(account)\Application Data\uqm
Where (account) = your system administrator name or whatever name you normally log into when using Windows XP.
I now encountered a problem with using two identical controllers.
I'm using two identical Logitech Precision USB Game Controllers on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop running Windows XP. The computer itself recognizes both controllers (in Control Panel > Game Controllers), but UQM recognizes only one of the two. It sees one of the controllers as "joystick 0" and it does not see the other controller at all. I've tried all combinations of deleting the keys.cfg file and plugging/unplugging controllers before/after starting UQM, none of which allowed UQM to sense input from both controllers.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a work-around?
Have you checked the controller IDs within Windows? They should each be different I believe, but don't pin me on it. If they are different, then I don't know...
