Noob needs linux install help
« on: October 18, 2007, 06:40:12 pm »

I've wanted to try Linux for a while now and have just installed openSuse 10.3.
Now I'm trying to put my favorite games on it and have run into a brick wall.
I downloaded the Linux “tgz” and untared it, and I know that I should ./configure it next but for some reason “bash” complains that there is no “./configure” command and “make” doesn't work either.\

How do I make the files into a game?

Am I doing this right?

When i run "make" it tells me that the sdl is missing.
I downloaded it and untared it, but once again it needs "configure" to run.

Where do i get "configure".

UQM does not use configure. The installation instructions in doc/devel/unixinstall should tell you what you need to know.

I suggest you use YaST to add the Packman repository (from the "Community Repositories" module), which will then allow you to install packages uqm and uqm-data (in "Software Management").
