Some chanages to syreen dialouge?
« on: January 12, 2003, 09:38:48 am »

Were there any changes in the Syreen dialouge from the PC/Amiga version to the 3DO version?

I'm saying this becuase you can make it home base with Talana in the new one, (  Wink ) but I can't recall you being able to do that in the orginal version I had.  Maybe I just never picked the right dialough choices.  It is quite funny, but my computer always freezes!

thank you for making this great game available again.

Most, if not all, the dialogue in the 3DO/UQM version were identical to the original PC version, with a few grammatical and sentence changes.  That said, yes, you could go to "home base" with Talana in the original too.

As for the freezing, that happens because it's an alpha.  Unfortunately you have few choices right now besides waiting for the next alpha; keep playing the conversation until you can get through it all, or just hit space bar to skip to the next point you can choose an option (and thus miss the entire conversation).

When I posted the same question earlier, the response was pretty much 'The differences are just there....no particular reason.'

The comm/syreen folder has a text document with the text of ALL the dialogue possibly said by the Syreen, so you can look at that for guidance as for skipping the dialogue. If you notice an obvious typo that could be causing the anomaly, it might be worth fixing.

Me, I BARELY make contact with the Zoq Fot Pik or the Orz before making contact with the VUX or Ur-Quan and DYING A HORRIBLE DEATH OF DEATHS SIRRAH

heh... for a moment when you were saying "home base" I thought you meant that she would do the same retrofitting that commander whatshisname did to the station at Earth, so you could outfit your ship at betelgeuse, which is much more centralized...

Heh, same here.

It would be cool to be able to do some limited things (buying/selling fuel, analyzing items) at the Syreen starbase. Feature for version 2.0, perhaps? Smiley
