Weren't the controls different on the PC version?
« on: February 13, 2008, 08:31:12 am »

I seem to remember (vaguely) that the PC version controlled the ship in the old "asteroid" style (left, right, thrust, fire) instead of left, right, up, down. Am I hallucinating?

Well, the keys are redefinable in both PC SC1/SC2 and UQM, so mapping "thrust" to [Up] and "fire" to [Down] (or whatever) is possible in both. That said, the Star Control series has always had left, right, thrust, fire and special controls in battle (although PC SC1/SC2 defaulted to five keys in a row: [N], [M], [,], [.] and [/] for Alliance and [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] for Hierarchy (special, left, right, thrust, fire respectively), while UQM uses [Up] for thrust by default.
