Disappointment at Organon
« on: May 01, 2008, 07:00:37 pm »

I was re-playing the game today and thought to come by Organon and watch Syreens revenge ... I was really surprized not to find ANY ships in the star system the whole extermination time ... I jumped in and out of the syster to let it refresh ... Nothing happened ...

There is a missing like of dialog missing about this event.  There is a sticky thread that explains it

Does this answer your question?  I had the same problem too, and it's a bummer that this one line makes things confusing.  In the 3DO version, this line was omitted for some reason (or by mistake), but the game is still fun nonetheless after this point.

No,No ! I know of Beta Brahe and Epsilon Saggitaris . They DID go to Organon and Did get slaughtered there , but I wanted to talk with the Mycon during the process , to see if there is some new dialogue or anything , or to meet with Syreen ships ... I went to the moon prior to the attack also , as they afterwards say they hid behind it .

I get the impression that Alvarin is surprised at the fact that all the player sees of the Syreen/Mycon ambush is the Mycon sphere of influence moving to Organon and shrinking; if you hang around Organon at the time, you'd expect to see Podships converging on the planet and being destroyed, wouldn't you?

A lot of the plot-related fleet movements in UQM work the same; I don't think I've actually seen Ilwrath and Thraddash forces actually engage each other, for example.

Of course i didn't expect to see them actually fight , but i expected to at least see them in the star system and i though i'll find the mycon in arrangement resembling someone's homeworld , with all the ships in orbit . And regards Syreen , i thought there was a chance of inding them when I orbit Organon's moon .

As for the Ilwrath/Thraddash reference - you do see both ship types  in star systems inside sphere of influence .

And if furthur proof is needed (going by memory of the PC version here), they behave just like the Korh-Ah and Kzer-Za Ur-Quan; both ship types will orbit their planets (and then converge on you upon entering the system).

I also waited around for weeks in an effort to see the Mycon and Syreen going at it, and never even saw a Mycon ship enter the system. I felt betrayed when Talana shared tales of the brutal battle that never was.  Sad
