I just completed my 5th or so run-through of Star Control II (yes only my 5th! How restrained am I?).
I noticed something minor which interested me nevertheless. I was being chased out of Ur-Quan space by a hyperspace spoor (definitely a dreadnaught group as it was outside of the Kohr-Ah sphere but INSIDE the ‘Quan sphere and the Slylandro had long been dealt with. I tried to see how far I could lure them out of the Ur-Quan sphere of influence. I expected it to disappear the moment it reached the end of the green sphere. To my surprise it kept going and disappeared perhaps 10 AU OUTSIDE of the sphere.
So my question for the day is:
What rule governs how far third party hyperspace spoors can venture outside their sphere of influence?

So if I stay close, I can get an Ilwrath Avenger to go into Utwig space?

That would be harder; different speeds. Actually, I wouldn't think it's possible.

Well, I can tell you that I attempted to keep it as close to my ship as possible.

From my experiences, the fleets disappear when they're still in the minimap, unless they're in their sphere of influence.

Slylandro are not bound by a sphere of influence. Ur-Quan are. and As I said just before, I kept the UQ EXTREMEMLY close to me - almost close enough for it to suck me in to true space.eventually it disappears of its own accord - about ten AU outside its sphere
