Fot or not?

It is my understanding that the Precursors have a mildly obsessive attitude toward quality (which I personally consider one of their most admirable qualities, apart from the obvious ones such as being talented musicians and UQM fans). In practice, this means that they will delay releasing a remix until they all agree it rocks. I recall reading that they spent years obsessing over the Yehat mix. In any case, the only race missing now, as far as I can tell, is the Syreen, and Mark's "Blue Angel" mix was apparently deemed "not good enough"; OCRemix rejected it, so I wouldn't be surprised that the Precursors did the same.

As far as I can recall, I think the only member of the Precursors who is not happy with Mark Vera's Syreen remix is Mark Vera himself. We've tried to convince him to release it, but no such luck. I might just end up making a remix myself in the end. :p

Sorry about forgetting the Syreen.. I really haven't though about it for a long time. Frankly I haven't done much music work for a long time, mostly because my studio hasn't been in working condition. Since I switched my computer to Vista 64-bit, I haven't been able to use my soundcard (no drivers, so selling the card now). Just recently got new pro-soundcard which works fine. Only problem now is that I just have to hook up my studio equipment again as I removed all the cables (about 300 meters of cables) during small furniture reorganization operation..
I have the old syreen remix available, but as TiLT said, I wasn't too happy about it. It was around the time I started buying hardware synthesizers and I'd rather use some of the sounds from those for a better mix and maybe rearrange the song slightly.

OC remixes rejected it? Shit. They accepted "Zelda, music of my groin". You must suck!
(^^ this joke is at OC remixes' expense, not yours)

I severely dislike OCRemix. That site is a serious drain on creativity and fun. They've got so many rules you need to follow that you'd think you were attempting to upload a lethal weapon, and they strictly disallow the core aspect of remixing: Remixing. If you create an up-to-date version of an old track (for example because it suffered from very low sound quality) using all new instruments and a new approach to the whole thing, they're likely to reject it outright just because it doesn't do anything new. I know we've been doing some pretty dramatic stuff with our UQM remixes, but that mostly just applies to themes we felt were problematic in the first place. I suspect OCRemix would reject such remixes as the Thraddash.
I'd rather deal with sites like Amigaremix.com, thank you very much.

Where's somewhere I could get straight remixes such as you describe, for platforms other than amiga? Or does that site cover other platforms?

Is it that sparse? Anyway, I have gotten a few good ones off of Remix ThaSauce. Some VERY good ones (Chrono Trigger -> Beautiful traveller)
Their guidelines seem a lot shorter. In particular the originality clause doesn't seem to require extreme divergence from the original.
And I just noticed that someone, sjr_nuts, has put up a remix of the hyperspace theme there this July. It's... not my favorite hyperspace remix, but it does establish that the site accepts UQM remixes.
