A question (SOLVED)
« on: June 16, 2008, 05:36:04 am »

I heard good things about SC2 while reading some old reviews and I decided to give it a try, for some reason it took me ages to find The Ur-Quan Masters release of the game but since I downloaded it  I have been playing it a lot, its been ages since I've enjoyed a game so much. Now for the question, I have been going system to system searching each planet, its slow work but I'm finding plenty of ores etc, while looking for the game I read that the game has a time limit, I want to know if I should be going system to system like this and if its feasible to do this when there is a time limit?

Cheers.

I'd say you could stop at most systems en route to your destinations, but i think you'll run out of time if you mine systematically.

If youre exploring every single system, I think you may start to run into some time issues. But the time limit isnt super short, you have a fair while to accomplish things. Just save often.

It might be better to say that yes indeed you WILL run out of time if you just try and mine every planet.
If you’ve been doing that you’ve probably got heaps of cash and it would be a better use of your time to do the actual quest.
If you seem to be spending money almost as quickly as you are earning it you should be a bit more focussed about which planets and stars have the best yields. Commander Hayes has information on this, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that the hotter the planet the larger the deposit. And the hotter the star, the hotter the planet, and that white and blue stars are the hottest…

In any case it’s always good to remind yourself that your main objective is NOT to scour the universe for minerals, but to conquer the Ur-Quan. Follow every lead you have and I suggest do it now. And as Alvarin says, mine stars that are in close proximity to target quests. Be selective.

And despite what CountChoc Says, there is actually a bit of urgency. It’s easy to get caught up in the fun of harvesting minerals.

If you go back to the starbase and listen to Commander Hayes' advice about gathering resources, you'll do fine.

This is important advice, and not enough people read it.

Probably because, in most games, the first character you meet is most often the one with the least knowledge of the universe you play in, and you have to seek knowledge and further information about the universe by meeting other characters in the game....
