You know, for race uncomfortable with physical touch, the Loroi appear to be seated quite intimately with the Earthling.
By the genre, there will definately be a "lights off" scene, but I think it's still too early in the comic, don't you think?

That struck me as well. If you look carefully, it's just Beryl who maneuvered in closer while talking; Jardin may have skoonched back a bit into Fireblade's space. Given the look on her face, this seems to be a bad idea.

Well, they are not battle stations crew, as far as I understand, and their leader is highly distinguished. I think they are just overconfident. In addition, it is just the beginning of the story and main character is aboard, meaning the ship will survive no matter what.

That didn't hold for the Bellarmine, so I would say more that nearly the entire main cast is aboard, thereby suggesting survival.
