My two faves as well, but I prefer Scarecrow over Bane.

So I watched the movie. And it was good, especially for a comic book movie. Easily one of the better out there (although to be fair that's not too hard, a lot of them are horrible).  The Joker was portrayed very well. It was a different take than Nicholson's, but then again the new movies are very different in spirit. I quite enjoyed the new Joker, it really brought out his anarchist, unreliable side. He really is that crazy.

But I have to say  that while the Joker was good I don't think it was a Oscar winning performance. This might be because I'm prejudiced against comic books (or whatever), but I really don't think it was stunning enough to merit an Oscar. He did eclipse Batman though, really stole the show. Other than the the special effect where nice but not completely over the top, which is comforting. I hate it when movies become a sea of special effects. Sure there were a lot of them, and some were a bit over. But mostly they held it together without going too gung ho.

Loved the shit out of this movie. Batman Begins was decent, but this was better. Pretty weird to see Christian Bale being upstaged in a movie centered around his own character, but there you.

haha, so much for the spoilers

Sassy, use [.spoiler] [./spoiler] without the periods. Some themes have a button for it, but not the default one.  Or just quote this post to see how it's done.. No sense in ruining it for others. I know I'd have been annoyed to find that out before the movie started.

Meh, you do what you like of course. I strived to avoid any spoilers regarding the movie, so for me it was an exciting thing. Of course, if one wants to avoid spoilers one might not read topics about the movie. Or maybe one trusts ones fellow forumites to not spoil it unless there's a spoiler warning in the topic.

Haha, what can I do Lukipela? I'm really sorry if you were annoyed. I think you're the only one who was concerned about my "spoiler" though. Hopefully.

I don't know how to make spoiler tags, but I completely agree with what you said Shiver. There was no motive for that to happen. Just because that thing happened before he became two-face wasn't grounds for becoming two-face.

This isn't really a spoiler, considering that I saw previews with him in them. So it's the preview guys faults, really.

Spoiler your spoiler?

I'm not annoyed, it didn't spoil anything for me. I just hope you didn't spoil it for anyone else. Although you probably didn't. I tend to get excessively protective of people who probably don't exist. I just don't want to take the chance that something I do might lessen the enjoyment others might derive from the movie. Keep on spoiling in good faith Wink

I wonder if the previews are different in different countries. I watched the ones on TV here, and there was no mention of

Anyway, to get back on topic. I also thought that the movie took the concept of batman to a new place compared to earlier movies. It was dark, depressing and thoughtful. In that way it succeeded much better than the last one. It made me think about the difference between what we need and what we want.

I heard a radio interview with Bob Kane, the guy who created Batman, who said that the Dark Knight version of him was the original intended one. When the early cartoon came out after the comic Batman got transformed into the campy, more simplistic version we're used to. The original is reminiscent of Frank Miller's comics.

To be fair, I only saw that particular preview once. It seemed to be some sort of product tie-in, and I didn't pay too much attention until

After seeing that, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that he would show up at some point, though I also expected him to just be set up in this movie and featured in the next.

Outstanding movie. I tend to avoid the summer 'blockbuster' type movies, but this one actually lived up to the hype.

I think I would have called Iron Man this summer's 'blockbuster' movie. Dark Knight, I think, was an all around great movie, beyond the scope of the summer even.
