The Ancient One

So I watched the movie. And it was good, especially for a comic book movie. Easily one of the better out there (although to be fair that's not too hard, a lot of them are horrible). The Joker was portrayed very well. It was a different take than Nicholson's, but then again the new movies are very different in spirit. I quite enjoyed the new Joker, it really brought out his anarchist, unreliable side. He really is that crazy.
But I have to say that while the Joker was good I don't think it was a Oscar winning performance. This might be because I'm prejudiced against comic books (or whatever), but I really don't think it was stunning enough to merit an Oscar. He did eclipse Batman though, really stole the show. Other than the the special effect where nice but not completely over the top, which is comforting. I hate it when movies become a sea of special effects. Sure there were a lot of them, and some were a bit over. But mostly they held it together without going too gung ho.
I was surprised that Two-Face was in this movie, I hadn't anticipated that. His face was very well done. It's kind of spoilery for someone who has read the comics though, as soon as "Harvey Dent" shows up you know what's going to happen.

Loved the shit out of this movie. Batman Begins was decent, but this was better. Pretty weird to see Christian Bale being upstaged in a movie centered around his own character, but there you.
I thought Harvey Dent's second face was a little too ugly and the character wasn't fully developed over the course of the movie. They rushed his transformation to villain out a bit quickly. Which is too bad, the actor that played him did a great job.

Outstanding movie. I tend to avoid the summer 'blockbuster' type movies, but this one actually lived up to the hype.
