Hey guys,
I figured I'd liven up the forum a bit, but I seem to have hit a snag. I'm otherwise pretty ready to start us out on a big exciting adventure, but my graphics skill are way below average.
This isn't terrible per se. We can totally do this with whatever I manage to scrape up, which means very little (crappy) graphics and lots of text. However, if anyone who knows their way around some sort of graphics program would be willing to help me out with pointers and materials, this could be a bit better. It's not really work intensive (I think). So if you happen to have a bit of spare time, PM me and I'll let you know what I need. Oh, and there's a reward (of sorts) involved as well.
Anyhow, watch this space. In a few days we might have embarked on a splendid adventure! Or, you know, all died. I'm not quite sure yet.

I can amateur photoshop. If you need anything more sophisticated then you'd better ask someone else. Please think of me as your last option, I'd rather spend spare time setting up the Mmrnmhrm update for the net melee guide.

It's not quite what yout're looking for (ie: general tile editors rather than a fantasy one) but if you look in this thread under tile/map editors there're some useful utils there.

Good is subjective to what you need, is it not? What features do you need?
Is this for your SC RPG / GM project?

Ideally, I'd like something where I can place mountains, draw rivers, zone plains, deserts, swamps and so forth. Oh, and it has to be free and look good
More realistically, I've been playing around with a program called Artrage, to get some sort of primitive drawn map. So far I've progressed rather quickly, from what a 2 year old can do on a piece of paper to what a 4 year old can do on a piece of paper. Progress is slowing down though.

It is for a SC RPG project. The current one is running well enough with what it is, even though I should've asked Dabir for more sprites. I've got two small side projects going, one where I'd need a fantasy type map and one where I'd need to create a nice looking HS map and draw borders and stuff on it. The problem with these are that I'd like to illustrate them, but my skills fall short. And because they are pretty open ended (unlike the current one), I can't prepare graphics, I need to produce them on the fly. So I'm settling for just maps to start with.
