.DOC and "DOCX act like a .zip file... inside there is .xml file witch is a new coming standard for some procedure. In word processing document there is no standard for the format as long as most reader can open it. BUT, the XML content is in fact standard.

So maybe he was not off the track that much. If you are not convinced take a .doc file and drag it to a winzip window. You will be surprise what you will find inside Smiley
