My new game!
« on: November 10, 2008, 05:10:49 am »

So, I'm making a new game, and it's made it to the first REAL release. You can find it by clicking on the huge letters that say "Bowser: The Betrayal" in my signature.

This thread is for me to take any advice, tips, etc. Of course, in the unlikely event that you Star Control obsessivists would like to help, that would be awesome!

So what do you think?

From the GMC thread..

Quote
ATTENTION: I would like a little help with this game. Here's what I need:

1. Bosses need to be drawn. Should be original.
2. I would like someone to look at my code and tell me if there's a better way than my methods.
3. Finding and/or making sound effects for the game
4. Bug tracking: Just play the game, and if you see a bug that's not in the "Known Bugs" text file, tell me.

#2 Please. I have GM 7 Pro and I'd like to look at your GM file. The blocks you are using in the game seem glitchy. They shouldn't move around like that. Looks like you might be using objects instead of tiles and you might have actions taking place in the step or collision events which will bog down a GM game's performance.

Also why are you requiring an install? You can upload your game to Yoyo's site even with GM lite and use the instant play option. At least I think you can, I've played many GM lite games uploaded at Yoyo.

p.s. My Section Z  inspired fan game will be uploaded sometime in late December early Januaray if all goes well.. This is by far my best GM game project yet.

Honestly, I would have preferred a response on my thread on the GMC, but that's OK.

I do have a version uploaded, I just didn't link to it. It seemed kind of pointless since with the size of my game, it takes a long time to load. But now that you mention it, I should do that.

Sorry my last reply wasn't complete, I literally had to leave for driving school immediately, so I just finished typing "after" and hit Post.

I'll send you the game when my brother gets off the computer downstairs that has the game (should take around 20 minutes from now, when he has to go to bed).

And thanks for offering to help! This is my first game, and I hope it's a great game, even though it's made in GM. (If you fully read the topic, I plan on continuing development even when it's done, adding and improving a mode similar to Super Smash Bros)

EDIT: Rtyp06, I sent you the game.

Um... Oh yeah, I forgot about the little add poll button Embarrassed (Actually I never noticed it was there in the first place...)

I guess this one should be deleted then...

I'll just lock it instead and let it go out of sight on its own.
