I just got another e-mail from someone confused about the Syreen-Mycon sidequest, so I figure I should try to get this ironed out. IIRC, arriving at Epsilon Scorpii I with a Deep Child Egg Case does not in itself trigger the Shattered Worlds conversation. If this is so, can someone list all the various bits of dialogue that can open this up?

I believe you need to get the thing looked at by the Starbase engineers, and then hand it over to Talana. That'll probably get the ball rolling.

Buying the information from the Melnorme also works as well IIRC.
I think the Arilou also tell you about the Deep Children too if you keep visiting them?

Yeah, they do, actually, though I think you would still need the egg case fragments and have them analyzed by Talana..

I ran search of the word "Mycon" throughout the script. So only the Starbase Commander inspecting a Deep Child, the Arilou homeworld when pressed for information and Melnorme alien info can unlock this? I'm suspicious of the Druuge as well seeing as how they do chatter quite a bit about Mycon eggs.

I seem to remember that I just visited the shattered worlds, and I was able to ask the Mycon about them ("Why do the shattered worlds only appear in Mycon space?"). I guess you just need to scan a shattered world (orbit it).

There are at least 2 Mycon Egg cases to be found. You should definitely turn one of them over to Talana, the other one can be traded elsewhere for something useful.
