In-game, the only consequence is increased crew cost (up to a maximum of 27). If you're brave, you can buy lots of crew at 3 RU, sell a few hundred of them to the Druuge, then come back to the starbase and sell the rest at 27 RU Tongue

How would the Starbase Commander get mad at you? He's kind of "on script" about just whats going on. Also, can you have Druuge ships on your Flagship?

Why is it ? if you are the bad guy , you can do whatever you want , just stack yourself with a fleet of Spathi to fend off the rampaging Kohr-Ah and you're golden !
Of course you will loose the game , but being the bad guy , what do you care for the galxy anyways ?
Ehm... If you are the bad guy, you murder the Spathi, you don't make friends with them. So you can't stock up on Spathi ships.

Stock up on Syreen Penetrators, fly over to the Pkunk homeworld and start farming Tongue

Then sell all the captured crew off to the Druuge! Free ships, and if the Starbase Commander gets angry at you, just go out and farm some more Pkunk slav.. I mean, crew members.
But you don't need the Syreen, either. So you won't have Penetrators Tongue

You only get to have:
Earthling Cruiser
Thraddash Torch
Druuge Mauler

Oh also you missed the few useless Umgah Drones they forcibly give you later on Tongue

You don't have to get them if you pick up their turdtoad from the smoking ruin of their home planet Smiley

There's a humorous bit of dialogue specifically for that situation

On that topic, just wondering: If the Kohr-Ah reach Earth and then you manage to beat the Sa-Matra, do you win the game? If that's the case, you can win by just not returning to Earth.

I believe the game simply ends with a long distance transmission from the Kohr-Ah telling you they've wiped out your race. So no, you actually have to destroy the Sa-Matra before the Kohr-Ah make it to Earth.

No, when they reach Earth, their sphere of influence expands and when you reach the sphere, then you lose.

Are you sure about that? I distinctly remember getting that message whilst in Ilwrath space.

Yes, I am sure. I remember quite clearly the first time I lost. I noticed, while trying to figure out what to do next, that the Kohr-Ah had reached Sol and their sphere of influence was expanding (quite rapidly, I might add). I was way over in Arilou space. At first I thought I'd hide in Quasi space, but then I thought I'd go to Sol and see what happens. When I reached the border of the Kohr-Ah's (expanded and still expanding) sphere of influence (near Spathi space, I think), a Kohr-Ah transmission came up telling me that I had lost the game (I think it was that the humans had been exterminated).

Luki, in Ilwrath space, the Kohr-Ah sphere doesn't have to expand much, so of course you didn't notice what I'm talking about.

Well, still, you need to destroy the Sa-Matra, or you will lose eventually.
