Your best ships
« on: December 19, 2008, 08:30:24 pm »

Which ships are you best at controlling?

My answer:

Slylandro; I have become quite skilled at zipping through the enemy's attacks and attacking the other ship in a similar fasion that the cyborg fights you.

Cruiser vs. cyborg; This is because being able to exploit the cyborg's weaknesses with a Cruiser is a very essential skill when being the bad guy.

Also, what are your worst ships?

My answer:

Drone; We all know why Roll Eyes

So? What about you guys?

I guess my speciality is Supox.

Worst is definitely Melnorme.

That's a screenshot of my recent melee performence against the Awesome Cyborg. I wasn't very tactical in this game, in every single battle I just zipped in and attacked relentlessly with lightning until either:
- one of the ships was destroyed
- the Probe's battery ran out, in which case I zipped out to grab an asteroid
- I was unable to keep up with the other ship, in which case I wrapped screen
- I was taking damage without being able to hit the opponent, in which case I zipped out and waited (for a couple seconds) for a better oppertunity

So why am I showing this off? Well, if I wasn't tactical, and the AI is an inhuman sharpshooter, I must have been somewhat good at dodging the projectiles.

Particularly good matchup: VUX was completely pulverized.

Embarrassing matchup: When the Scout warped in, I mindlessly attacked it just like any other ship. When I made my first attack, it detonated itself, then I realized what the ship was.

I'm just bragging here since this thread looked so empty. Tongue

Also, I fought a fleet of Pkunk with a fleet of Slylandro 7:7. The game says I destroyed 4; In reality I destroyed about 15 (because they were regenerating so much).

I suggest bragging about fights against human opponents. The AI is stupid and can be tricked in many ways.

Oh I love the good old Pkunk and not just because you can re-spawn, I love the super maneuverability and being able to run away very quickly. Also there is something deeply satisfying about being able to hurl insults at your opponents.

My worst would have to be the Mycon due to its lack of maneuverability, I feel like a sitting duck and a very big one at that.

Tricking AI's is fun, they're so predictable at times.

Well, I'm somewhat good at controlling a Mmrnmhrm (thus I use it so often). The Chmmr is mostly a no-brainer, so I guess I can use that somewhat well, too.

I could use some serious improvement with Kohr-Ah, Utwig, Druuge and Melnorme - most of the heavy-hitters Wink. I'm also not too good with Slylandro or Chenjesu. And with Umgah, I'm horrible. Can't use the retro-propulsion for squat Tongue

Noob!

This isn't even a particularly good run for me. Tongue Although it was pretty cool killing an Orz when I had two limpets on from the last fight.

So, yeah. Best ship Dill-rat Avenger

I've done fights against humans. Only problem is, with the net delay, I'm not used to that speed. I'm used to the Slylandro being ultra-fast. I hate net delay. Angry Why is it there anyways?

I have difficulties following the logic of that line. How could life be "wasted" on UQM?

I'm pretty good flying Mycons and Chenjesu , really bad with Slylandro and Umgah .
Those are against AI and local PC  fights against not the best pilot out there .

For me, Kohr-Ah is the _easiest_ ship to play. I cannot say what ship I play the best.

My worst ship? Mycon, maybe.

On other note, I can't beat the AI controlled umgah. Any hints?

Although I am supreme newb to any kind of super melee I very early became fond of two ships - the Pkunk Fury (for it's agility and combat insults  Grin )  and Melnorme Trader (very good primary weapon and I like captain Greenish). Currently I'm trying to master Arilou and Kohr-Ar, the latter being somewhat more difficult than the Skiff :p

Surely you know that I wasn't being serious? <_< (Heck, I've hardly got a life.)

I think Shiver's goal in life is to get me banned... I didn't know you hated me THAT much. In that case, why don't you just stay put in the SCDB where I am already banned forever? But then again, you would have failed at your goal, right?

Of course I still think there was no one reason why I was banned from the SCDB... Sedodes complained about all my "junk posts", while some were complaining about my childish behavior (the more sensible beings...). Shiver must just hate me because I wrongly believed I was great at Melee and I never said "Sorry I didn't bow down and submit to your overwhelming power, almighty Shiver the Great". So Shiver is yet another guy who is just being dumb about things. Grow up, Shiver.
