SuddenDeath / Death999: If I did not call him out, who on this forum would? No one. Not ever.
That is the central reason why I sometimes become so ornery around this community.

I see you mentioned Valaggar. Heh, now there's a spammer extraordinaire... however, I believe that most people here think that, in retrospect, it was actually good to have him!
He spammed, but also contributed. And just like Jaychant, he matured and was quite "tame" in the end.

Valaggar became tolerable after he was cracked down upon. What would have happened otherwise?
A lot more spam. I don't know for how long. You are right that he turned out to be a good member of the
community in the end. It's silly to think that this is universally true for all people.

So far only Shiver has had the balls to voice his opinion on Jaychant. Who are the other cowards who have actually gone for the "ban Jaychant" option but havent said anything? Show yourselves weaklings!

Absolutely this. I'm curious to know who agrees with me. Some lurkers or what? I don't need
you to argue on my behalf, just say what you voted. An itty bitty bit of legitimacy would be nice,
and lord knows I need it in front of this crowd.

Yeah what actually did he do to get banned in the end.

It's a bit odd though. If even half of those in favour of banning jaychant were posting, this thread might look very different. It's seems a bit assholish of them to let Shiver take all the flak.

Consider that vote count invalid until someone (maybe several people?) speak up.

Sign me up for the Carebear squad as well. While I definitely find Jay's posting style to be immature, he certainly hasn't committed any kind of grave offense or TOS violation that would warrant banning him. Were that not the case, I would totally be speaking up for the other end of this poll.

He has matured, unlike many.
Just saying this in case you were referring to me...

I guess we could all use a heads-up when we're being annoying... if we can react to that in a mature manner, it could save some nerves. Still, what you did is a bit too much IMO.
As for Jaychant, he's already aware of what he did, and has expressed regret (and backed it up lately by noticeably changing his posting habits and especially attitude for the better). If he keeps going in this direction, I see him becoming an accepted member Smiley

Quote from: jaychant
I highly regret my childish actions in the past; it had largely to do with a major depression (read: desire to die) I had just gone through. Sorry, Shiver, but I can't change the past, I can only learn. I realize that there will always be a scar on my reputation in this community; no one will forget. If you want to ban me, Meep-Eep, go ahead. It won't make a difference. My reputation is already scarred for life in this community, which in my opinion is already the ultimate punishment.

It's your choice, Shiver. You can stay mad forever, or you can put it behind you. You will have to decide which you are going to do.

Edit: added quote.

I voted that jaychant should be banned, but only because I wanted to tip the balance back to neutral 'cause I find this thread most entertaining. I have nothing against jay dude personally  - believe me jaychant, this small poll will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on you getting banned or not from the UQM forums - a laugh or two is all we're going to get. And just for the record - I like it when you annoy the "omnipotent" Shiver; it's quite hilarious to see to what ends is he ready to go in his posts against a 15 year old Cheesy

And why was Valaggar Redux banned? I hear a lot about him on this forum (and the pages) yet I was unable to find any reason for his banning Tongue

The bottom line is, jaychant has done nothing to break the rules of the forum, and although his posts may be immature at times, this doesn't mean he should or can be banned for it. Shiver's poll is pretty irrelevant, and the topic of this post has switched to whether or not you hate jaychant, (or rather, whether or not you dislike Shiver) not whether he deserves to be banned from the site.

Therefore, it is not cowardly to keep your opinions about jaychant to yourself. If jaychant did something to violate the rules of the forum, then it would in a way be cowardly to let the broken rules go unpunished.

I think if anyone has a problem with jaychant, let him know exactly what it is. If it is ban-worthy, then let the rest of us know what it is. I haven't noticed anything that jaychant has done to qualify him for a banning (that is, flagrantly breaking forum rules).  This topic is a soap-opera and taking up space.

I might be completely off here, but I don't think Valaggar was banned. I'm pretty sure he deleted both his first and second account (Valaggar Redux) in frustration. This is his last post, but by then he was quite different from the happy guy he used to be.

Yeah, I'm sure the internet will run out of space real soon Wink These things jolt some of our sleepier members awake, so I guess they are good for something.

If you care enough to vote for him in a mock ban poll, then I'd think you'd care enough to mention why. But most ban voters are probably like Son, just voting for the lulz.

Edit2: There is an insane amount of members on line. not sure if it is this thread or that I normally have better things to do on a Friday night...

Mentioning why would be irrelevant unless jaychant broke a rule. Since it isn't obvious that he has, I'd conclude that mentioning why would be irrelevant

Since he hasn't broken a rule then it's pretty irrelevant to vote in the poll as well. If you're gonna do one irrelevant thing ,you might as well do the other. Unless one is safely anonymous and the other requires you to actually stand for your opinion. I think it's cowardly to freely voice your irrelevant opinion anonymously but not voice your irrelevant opinion publicly. But that's what the net is for, letting people say things they'd never dare say in real life. Besides, do you know why they voted as they did? Since it isn't obvious that he has broken a rule, maybe they think that he implicitly broke one? In which case they're obligated to tell us which and how.

I don't think two wrongs make a right. And if someone voiced their opinion without proper reason, then this would become the "I hate jaychant" fanclub, then who's being immature?

You're right, the poll should have never been created. And if someone does think he implicitly broke a rule then by all means tell us. That's my whole point.

I don't see why are you people taking this thread all so seriously. For the time I spent on the UQM forums Shiver-Jaychant conversation was (and is) nothing more than a small running gag, interesting only to the participants and a few by-readers ghosting around. Nothing more than that Tongue Maybe we ought to make a new poll titled "Who wants to see more of Shiver Jaychant comedy-theater?" That would at least give us some insight in the number of people that actually "care" for what the said two are saying to one another.

Actually the most fun comedy theatre was Sedodes vs Jaychant over at SCDB. Unfortunaly that stopped when the moderators over there banned Jaychant. Which, by the way, is why people are taking this so seriously over here - because people do get banned if the mob gets too excited.

That's unfortunate that the forum works that way. Unless someone is maliciously spamming, there's no reason to instill a ban.
