Changing Captain Name

When I first played the game, I could change my names easily because I did it without really trying. Now, when I start a new game, I can't figure out how to change the captain's name.

for captain name

Games->Settings->flagship

for flagship name

For the PC version, you could change your names.... I don't remember being able to do it with the actual 3DO version. Can you do it with this UQM version? Haven't tried looking for that option myself..... Tongue

I change the name once when the game begins.....after that I just figured that the captain was the one survivor :-)

The one survivor or what? Vela? You bring about 80 people with you. The Sa-Matra explosion? I think it's specified that the escape pod is big enough for everyone. Probably just a plot device to ease your conscience.

Of any battle sequence. Since I never want to change the name of my Captain, I always assumed he was the one that lived (keeping my ship from blowing up).

In the PC version, the last crewmember of the flagship was represented by a different color than the rest of the crew in the indicator bar. Presumably this is the captain (i.e. you).

If you get your mother ship down to 1 crew often enough that it's a decent excuse to change the captain's name, well, I'm very sorry for the new alliance of free stars!

Huh. Played the 3DO version completely through once or twice and never found or noticed you could change the names. Learn something new everyday Tongue
