One freaking song!
« on: May 18, 2009, 08:23:05 pm »

Yesterday I was playing UQM, when I allowed the Neo-Dnyarri once again to send me on my way to certain death as I was without the Taalo Shield.  The Ur-Quan asked me WTF had happened and as I usual I told them about the mental compulsion.

Like normally, the Lord commanding that ship was afraid. I had seen that scene so many times, but this one was diffrente. Perhaps the fact that I have matured somewhat, perhaps I jsut never realized it. But the fact that the Ur-Quan were afraid got me excited (not in THAT way). I suddenly found that I very much liked The Ur-Quan Kzer-Za out of all other races within Star control universe.

I also found out that their theme song wich plays inthe back was also awesome and as a loyal fan I began my quest to find it so I could lissen to it even without UQM and now, after over a day of searching on the internet or finding a way to crack UQM file for 3do music package.

As I have not found either of them, I now seek the help and guidance of the holy techomages of Technical Issues forum!

Pretty please  Lips Sealed?

The .uqm files are really just .zip files, but renamed so that people won't unpack them during installation, as the game uses them packed.

Thanks, I got the files open, but I still cannot find the Ur-Quan theme, or any other races theme that matter. only general themes and voice acting :/.

comm/urquan/urquan.mod from uqm-0.6.0-content.uqm is the original.

As a rule of thumb, the 3DO music is the same as the PC music (which is in the general content package) for tunes that are played together with voice acting (except where they can be mixed together beforehand as in cut-scenes). Mixing a few short sounds from RAM (and therefore, playing MOD music) is no problem for a 3DO, but playing more than one audio stream from CD is problematic due to data reads and seeks both being quite slow (the data compression helps but, apparently, not quite enough).
