Hiya guys! Sorry, it's been a while since I visited the IRC channel with any frequency and even longer since I've posted on the forum. I'm still planning to release more Star Control ship info videos soon. The three main reasons it has been such a looooong process for me are:
1. Very little usable models have been donated to the project by (You Guys).
2. Since quality is paramount to any CGI I create, the process takes more time than I have to spare "Not being paid" for a laborious endeavour.
3. Rather than spend the time making all my own ships... I really wanted to pool the resources of talented artists who have already created such wonderful Star Control material.
The HEAD HUNT is on!
1- (Most wanted): Kris Hauser I really love the Supox. http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sc3d/images/artists/KrisHauser/index.htm
2-Barak http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sc3d/images/artists/barak/
3- Toni http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sc3d/images/artists/Toni/
4- Gabooz http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sc3d/images/artists/Gabooz/
Anyone able to help (find, contact, get models from) these people are urged to do so.
Keep in mind that I'm looking for the actual MODEL files containing the geometry of the SC ships. I'm not interested in images or scene files unless the images are maps for objects. Anyone successful in this head hunt will have my sincere gratitude and will be rewarded with a (realistic) amount of custom CGI for any purpose they choose. This means YOU!
As always thanks for your time and have a great day!

So it turns out that while Amiga_Nut is perfectly willing to ask all of you guys to use your spare time to hunt models for him, he is nowhere as willing to share what he has got with the community or even reply to emails. Oh well.
This reads like one of my posts where I get irritated at some member of the forum for sucking. Watch your step. Before you know it you'll be burning bridges with everyone who looks at you the wrong way.

He is occasinonally signed in on Skype. Quite rarely, though.

Hi,
I think I still have the models somewhere if you still need them.

Lukipedia sent me an email a while ago asking about models. So I replied to him, but I thought there may be others that want my models.
Here they all are, they are open source, and you can redistribute and change them any way you want. They are also low poly, and for the most part pixel colored instead of textured. I did this because I want to have massive amounts of ships on screen at a time in my game. Also because, the texturing tools I found were too time consuming and painful to use... Perhaps I'll design something myself sometime. ***dreaming of having unlimited time***

I made them in wings 3d, because it is awesome and free. Also I used blender for the pixel coloring, because it is clunky but more fully featured, and free.

Yes, I called myself Korky in IRC a while ago Anyway, I did the following models which you might find useful, I'm not sure what you have and what was on SC3D: Chenjesu, VUX, Kzer-Za (old model), Spathi, New (well.. 1999 it or so new and detailed Kzer-Za (which I'm not sure if you have), a sort of galaxy or something. All these models were done for 3DSMAX and used some plugins and post processing which I'm not sure if exist any more.
So, if you need any of these, I'll dig around in my old cds and send them.
