This probably requires an administrator account.
Right-click (or control-click) on the folder and choose Get Info.
At the bottom right of the window that appears, click the little lock icon. You'll be asked for your password.
Give yourself read/write privileges (it should be fairly obvious how to do this). On 10.5, if your username is not already in the list, click the + button to add it; on 10.4, I think you choose your username from a "user" or "owner" popup menu or something (I can't remember exactly).
Also, if it doesn't work, you could try installing the game to /Users/<your name>/Applications instead of to /Applications.
