Mac OSX : Addons not working
« on: July 29, 2009, 12:31:39 am »

I've placed the three addons in the "/Applications/The Ur-Quan Masters.app/Contents/Resources/content/packages/addons" plus I've used the terminal commands found on the wiki site and those have not been successful either. Has anybody had a similar problem and found a solution?

I'll hazard a wild guess at what's going wrong: you've put the add-on package ZIPs in the content/packages/addons/ directory instead of creating a subdirectory that contains the ZIPs and specified that on the command line with --addon.

If that isn't the problem, you'll have to be more specific. Which add-ons are you talking about? Where exactly did you put which files and what commands did you use exactly? What did UQM output to stdout and stderr?

I created a sub directory for each addon (These addons are the 3do content : Voices, Music, Video and Ship Mod Content) and I tried using terminal again to load these to no success.

The Terminal commands are from their wiki site

 *     cd /Applications/The\ Ur-Quan\ Masters.app/Contents/MacOS
 *     ./The\ Ur-Quan\ Masters -n ../Resources/content --addon ADDONNAME

My package content is laid out like this.

/content/packages/addons/Voices
/content/packages/addons/Ship Modification
/content/packages/addons/3do Content

Within each of the sub-folders are the original zips.

The original zips are on the download page found as such
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-0.6.0-content.uqm?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-0.6.0-voice.uqm?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-0.6.0-3domusic.uqm?download

Thanks, that made things a lot clearer. The ZIPs you mention are actually the standard content packages, not add-ons. uqm-0.6.0-content (the main content package) is already in The Ur-Quan Masters.app/Contents/Resources/content, which is where you also should put the 3DO music and 3DO voice files. You can then start UQM normally and choose the 3DO content to use in the internal setup menu.

The UQM OS X disk image file (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-0.6.2-macosx.dmg?download) contains a file called README for MacOS X Users.textClipping that explains how to do this.

The Music is coming through for sure but I'm still having an issue with the voices.

Have you checked that speech volume is non-zero? If you run the game without speech files it will turn the speech off by turning the volume to 0.
