Forum based game
« on: August 15, 2009, 12:40:27 am »

Lately the forum is quite quiet .
To counter that I would like to propose opening a forum based games I used to love playing on another forum   -
Most favored - "Wink murder game" - the setup is descided by vote , the murderer is picked by the organizer of the game (typically the previous murderer) . Game is for 10 people or so . It is a role play thing - everyone does whatever fits it's character , the murderer , in addition has the agenda to kill everyone . Every participant , including killer , describes his moves . When the killer descides to kill someone - he writes a private mail to the target , describing how exactly he dies . Upon receiving the mail , the dead writes elaborately about how he dies and where his body is , leaving all the clues the murderer specified , but trying not to reveal his identity . The kill has to be done when there is noone around . Every participant , including the killer has one guess to the killer identity - he needs to approach and accuse . If the accusation is right , the game is over . If someone is accused wrongly - he will just continue playing till dead or till someone else finds the killer . Killer can dispatch two persons in same time period , to prevent situation of only two remain and the non-killer knows he's not .
If you think it can work here and would like to participate/ask something more/criticise - you can do it right here Smiley

Well, why not? I'll try it. Not sure I understand the concept entirely (or maybe more how it exactly works), but I'll figure it out.

I think it has some hope to becoming a forum game if the time is right.

I mean it can succeed under the right circumstances. From what I gather your plan is to have the game end when either the killer is found, or when the killer has killed everyone, And from there you randomly PM someone to be the new killer, and a new round begins.

Some things that need to happen for this game to work are you need enough people for this game to not only be intense and thrilling (not knowing who the killer is.) but also to allow a round to last more then a week. Also because a lot of the people need to get the concept figured out, expect the first round to be a little bumpy, so you would also need patient people as well.

But of course this is the issue of all forum based games, so I guess it will take off if people are interested in trying it out.

It bears mentioning that the SCDB recently had a Mafia game that was pretty fun, albeit with a few players too little. So if you want to do some gaming with other SC fans, this is your second chance to do so. All aboard and whatnot.
