SC2 Planet Info
« on: September 04, 2009, 01:02:48 am »

For those interested, I've created an XML file containing the SC2 universe and planet data, as well as the minerals on those planets. It was generated from some other data on these boards, which was a 'flat' textfile which was generated from the actual in-game data from UQM.
This data can be handy if you want to include solar systems from SC2 or the entire SC2 universe in a clone you're making Smiley.
This XML file can also be used for reference, just open it in your browser and it'll be generated in a spiffy way.

Took a quick look.  In general it's pretty nice.  It breaks down on some special cases like Earth.

I guess it all depends on what resolution you use, and quite possibly what browser you use Smiley.
Anyway, it was just a quick example to show what data is in the file, but I have to say that the mineral and biological info, as well as the planet's statistics like weather class etc is missing in the layout, but it is in the xml file.

I don't see anything here. This appears to have two reasons:
  • SystemDatabase.xsl contains "<table bgcolor="#0000055" border="0">". Note the number of zeros in the bgcolor attribute. (Btw, why not put this in the .css file? And also the "bgcolor" attribute of the "body" element.)
  • SystemDatabase.xml refers to "systemdatabaselayout.css", but there's only the file "SystemDatabaseLayout.css" (note the capitals).

But otherwise, a useful table. And I applaud the use of XML and XSLT for this.

Btw, it would probably have been less work to generate the XML directly from the UQM source. See uqmdebug.[ch] and doc/devel/debug.

Oh, you must be using a more picky browser or OS than I do Wink (windows and IE here Tongue)

Anyway, I've updated the link to a fixed version.
And this wasn't really much work for me, I just grepped the file around a bit to get the correct data.
