I will be seriously amused if we now take the choices which they made on the SCDB, and vice versa.

That would be funny. That is certainly the way you are heading. Next update some time mid week.

I think the SCBD players did better than us. At least they didn't have their blood boil after the first choice. Smiley

Okay, so there are 4 in favour of one and 7 in favour of two. So I guess we're merciful. Next update on Sunday or so.

The UQMF certainly isn't setting a track record for surviving Smiley Luckily, that's not a necessary trait in Pkunk society!

Hey, what do you know. I'm on time and everything. So that's nine 1s and two 2s.

Next update midweek.

Aaand here we go again. Eight 1s and one 2? You guys really don't like self sacrifice. But then again, that may be just as well. Look where it got the SCDB.

So there you have it. The adventure has now been played through twice here, and twice on UQM/SCDB. That means you’ve seen 4 of the 16 possible outcomes. It seems a pity that the rest of them will lie unused and unseen. So I’m issuing a kind of challenge here. As you may or may not know, I’m heavily involved in several SC projects right now. In addition to working on the new PNF, I’ve got my hands full with the forum game BEL and two secret projects that you will find out about only if they eventually produce something. That takes up most, if not all of the spare time I can afford to spend on this. However, if a programmer steps up and PM’s me that he’d be willing to write a small simple program where you can play through this text adventure, I’d be a happy man. If a graphics artists offers to make small simple illustrations for the 31 different scenes to stick in that program, I’d be ecstatic. If there is any interest in this, PM me. If not, well I guess I’ll start running this again in a half a year or so.

You can actually do this quite easily with a series of web pages. No need to keep state, I guess, so it's just a matter of following links from one page to the next, and no JavaScript would even be needed.
I can host it on uqm.stack.nl. And I could also create the pages, but I'm not going to mess with layout. I could probably set the whole thing up within half an hour if you send me the conversation tree.

Thats's a pretty brilliant idea. I'll go start pondering the layout and enhancing the text a bit.

Or I could write a Python program to do it. It'd probably only take a few minutes.

Meep's idea may be more accessible though.

I just upgraded from a P4 Windows XP to a Quadcore 64 Bit Windows 7 machine and itching to fire up Game Maker. PM me the script and I'll make you estatic. And I will not show anyone anything until you've given your stamp of approval. Art help would be nice though.

I'd make it a bunch of pages named
start.html
0.html
1.html
00.html
etc...

that way even the page names themselves aren't spoilers, just a table of contents...

To be honest, this sounds really enticing. I'll polish it off a bit and send it to you. I'm working on/whining to an artist right now, might have some art later on. But if not, text only is fine too.

Personally, I'd rather see a platform-independent game which doesn't require one to download a file and execute a foreign executable.

Er, I thought  Game Maker made Flash games that are just that? Or am I confusing it with something else?

No, GM is a scripting tool that creates an executeable for windows OS.  Meep is completely correct, a cross platform version would indeed be better. That doesn't stop me from wanting to do it though.
