Barak, I am wanting to get these models into Maya so I can spruce em up a bit and repost em here, if that's okay. The 3DO Star Control videos were one of the major reasons I got into 3D modelling/animation and I'd love to give some back to the community. Thanks for all your work, man!  =)'

I'd be happy if you used the models and improved on them.

Scott says he's not sure about the current versions either, so if you can send me anything you have we'd be thankful. Emails in my profile

Also Rico, if you'd be willing to share the improved versions when they are done we'd be thankful as well.

oh, cool Barak!  my email is ricardo112971ATmsn.com

I'm a bit behind at the moment, getting married Nov 7 so all my attention for now is wedding plans and prep  =O
I should be available soon to knock these out pretty quick. I've got the Arilou skiff almost done, just finishing touch-ups on the cockpit controls. I based the cockpit off of the conversation console image of the Arilou, so he's sitting on a red mound with light flashing past him lol

Hey I was looking at the models page and noticed that Dragon had posted a bunch of his models .  Unfortunately they were all in .max format.  I haven't been able to find the right stuff to be able to load them.  Searching on the net, it seems the best thing to do would be to use 3d studio max to convert them to a .obj format or a .3ds format.  Unfortunately, I don't have thousands of dollars to buy 3d studio max.

Can anyone help me out here?  I was hoping to try his models out a bit (seeing as they looked much nicer than mine).

Dragon has an account both on here and on the SCDB, I'm sure he can help you out. I just provide content, don't know much about the actual programs.

And of course, if you enjoy the content then perhaps one day you could take the time to share your own models Smiley Every little helps.

I bet that Blender can convert them.

I actually tried blender first.  However, I found out that it only load certain types of .3ds files.  So then I found another program that some people on gamedev.net thought would work called gmax.  It also couldn't load those files.  So most people there thought that the only way was to find someone that had 3d studio max and have them convert them to a more readable format.

Dragon asked for some jpgs of my models and maybe a zip file...  I think I can do that for you sometime.  Mine aren't as nice as dragons, but they should all load with free software.

A zip with the actual models, pictures of them and possibly some light technical data (polygons/face count/whatev) is all I need to put your stuff on site. It doesn't mater how it compares to other stuff, it's good to have it there.
