Starflight (new)
« on: March 02, 2010, 08:05:32 am »

Hi All,

I have played starflight on the commodore 64 and early PC, it was there before  Starcontrol  came to us.
Many of you probably also played it.

As i finished SC2 now about 15 times  Wink I wanted to replay Starflight  nr 1 and nr 2  so i searched on the net and !!!
i found a sequel! (looks Good!)

I downloaded it and it seemes to work ok !
Maybe this is known already  ( ifso this message can be deleted  )

PS i found the first hint on youtube. ( i always look on Youtube first to see if i like a game ).

here is url

http://groups.google.com/group/starflighttlc

Take care.

PS question for the Extended Version mod for Starcontrol 2, it works ok sofar i tried it but in no way i can get the speech packet working.  I installed all, i can set the controls, but  after i save the settings the speech is back  at 0%.
any idea's anyone ?

(i use a soundblaster live).

Okay, still doing the training Wink.
Was a bit too free with the first spinaround, so had to mine some stuff to get enough endurium to continue questing Tongue.

I'll begin the Thorium mission next time I sit to play.

Did you ever play Starflight 1 ( ore 2)
I played Starflight  years and years ago on a C64 and i loved it!

I remember that i had a personal love for my crew and kept them with me until the end of the game.
I Remember the Thrynn? and Elowan always fighting.

The Veloxi? ( kind of bee's) ? they were strong!

The Fluxes if you dared to go travel in it ,  shields and armor on the ship were no use....?

The C64 version of Starflight was really good! I remember beeing in a store and seen it and bought it. ( Binary Systems)?
I still have the original version with a map and a copy protection spinning wheel. If you gave wrong answers the interstellar police was swarming around the ship and there was NO WAY you could defeat the police. Only way to go on was to give the correct answers and you needed the black spinning wheel for that.  ( Nice protection!)

later as i bought  SC2 i saw some of the developpers on SC2 were also involved in Starflight  ( Greg Johnson?)

But most off all i remember playing Starfligt hours and hours...
later i Got Starcontrol 2 and i played it weeks and weeks ( maybe months(  ( I still play it)

The sad thing about Starcontrol2 is after ending it its all over.. Starflight if finished still got the  complete galaxy to explore  Tongue

On youtube there are a nr of "Lets play Starflight" from 1  to 13
as i understand the hard disk off the player crashed so there is no Nr 14 and more ( I hope he will finish it)

I also saw the speedrun on Star control 2 and i can imagine thats a quest also to finish the game as fast as can be.

Personally i always love the beginning off SC2.. Go to Hayes, get minerals, go to Pluto, get Fwiffo aboard..
and then explore.

The exploration is what i love most about SC2 and Starflight.

Currently i am playing Mass effect also and i have to say i like it Smiley

But in no way Mass effect give's me what i experienced in the first time i played SC2 ore Starflight.
I never ever will forget i met the Shofixti who were brave enough to blew up their sun.

I have seen Zarla's page's  and others and i seen many off you dont like the speech... well personally i DO like the speech packet!

YAHEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok take care and kick some Illwrath but for me.

Captain Iceage.
ISS Vance.

I have not played Starflight, I actually was unaware of it till I read the influences page in Ultronomicon about a year ago and watched the let's play last week. BTW, he did the 14th part.
