I decided I would kill a fleet with the Thraddash. One ship. Unfortunately, that's not as easy as the experts say -
my first opponent was the Pkunk (The Peeled Eyes). I could not hit the guy no matter what I did. Once the Pkunk blundered into fire after the gravity whip, but that only slightly damaged the Pkunk, and every time I tried to get close enough to burn him, he hurt me.
Conclusion: Thraddash vs. Awesome Pkunk = pointless.
Awesome Pkunk is a really irritating opponent, but most ships have some sort of area or guided attack to deal with them.
FYI, I know that it can be done, any fool can do the gravity whip trick enough times in an hour, but then the Pkunk likely get ANOTHER ship! Yeesh.
Ok, I tested this, and I'm astounded to say that it appears the Pkunk dodges fire trails! I thought no UQM ship did this? I could only get him to run into fire puffs if I held down the boost button and created a grid of fire close to him continuously, in which case it looked like the attack pattern interfered with the dodging. That's amazing!
You can easily kill him of course by using the boost as a boost instead of a weapon and shooting him with the main gun...

I didn't think any ai ship did this even in awesome cyborg. I have killed the pkunk by having the thraddash curve the afterburner over him *goes to UQM game and tries it out again* Well at my first try I lucked out and we approached each other I hit the boost and the curved to towards the Pkunk in a sort of a U-turn. Bam! He died but then he resurrected...I then lost several ships and the Pkunk resurrected again... I was going to give up but I managed to swoop by him and arch around him so that he(/she whatever) got caught in the "flames". I'm no expert or even past novice-ness but I just thought I would ad that.

I'm the kind of person that uses Linux and seems to be a very literate adult but has no idea how to do anything code-wise beyond basic stuff.(such as su -<password> yum install uqm) Except I didn't install UQM that way...I used Add/Remove Software...
