Gathering resources fails
« on: May 17, 2010, 10:45:12 pm »

At the beginning of the game, AFTER I have uploaded my resources to the Commander, then go back out and try to collect more, I get a rapid sound when I send the lander down to get more. Essentially, it doesn't collect any more. What is the problem?

Either you don't have cargo bay at all, or all your bays are full.
You can go to menu-cargo and discard minerals with lower monetary value to make room for more value-intensive loot.

From the question I realize you are new to StarControl2 world, and want to congratulate you on such nice find. Enjoy!

As far as I know, the Commander doesn't actually take resources off you, that would be kinda dickish.

Maybe you removed all your cargo bays at the starbase? Then you would surely get the "full cargo bay" sound even after dumping your resources.

EDIT: Oh. I'm slowpoke.

You offload the resources via dialogue with Hayes "Commander, I have minerals to offload" So it can be interpreted as him taking your resources.

I was thinking at the start, when he demands radioactives. Clearly I was not thinking straight, too tired. Disregard my advice.

You know, about the minerals, I always pictured myself when you say the phrase "I have minerals to offload" Hayes offers you a shovel and says "here you go"

Thank you all for the help. Not having a cargo bay was indeed the problem I was having.

One time I had a problem that I posted on Bugzilla that I couldn't send a lander down after I purchased a new lander. I was completely new and I felt really bad.  I had purchased two cruisers and not realized that landers are completely different things!  Just saying because you had a similiar scenario to me.
