The Arilou hate me

On my first playthrough, I got the warp pod and exchanged it for a Portal Spawner with the Arilou. They also mentioned something about the Umgah's Talking Pet in the conversation.

After freeing the Umgah and picking up the Talking Pet, I went back to the Arilou to tell them what happened, but they just told me to go away in increasingly hostile terms. I never got any skiffs, which I was apparently supposed to. Hayes never said anything about it either. I also apparently missed most of the conversation options, because I've seen references to them saying a lot of stuff they never told me.

Does anyone know what I might have done wrong?

You probably accidentally chose the conversation option "I think I will kill you now..." or something to that effect while skipping by some of their dialogue. Over the years that has happened to me a lot.

Wouldn't they have actually attacked me if that were the case instead of just telling me to go away?

IIRC they never attack you unless you initiate the attack on your first encounter.

They never attack you at all, and for some reason they don't even seem to notice when you kill them; they only notice when you THREATEN to kill them... Huh

The Arilou are so confusing!
