I was wondering... has any one else ever had a Chmmr drone get dislocated from its circling the Chmmr ship? I had just killed an Androsynth with a Thraddash Torch and was pouring myself some water really quickly when the Avatar appeared and used the tractor beam to suck the Torch. The torch just sling shotted past the Avatar then back around it and bashed the Avatar in its back. I finished pouring and I saw that one of the drones had been knocked about 2 or 3 Avatar-ship-lengths down and was flying back into "orbit"... while I watched in surprise, the Avatar fried my Torch. Has anyone ever seen something like this? I'm sorry if someone already asked this but my search of Chmmr or Avatar gets ten pages of not really related stuff. I wish I could've taken a snapshot or replicate this. Maybe its a common thing that I've never seen before...

It DOES happen... but the only thing that bothers me now is that the ship didn't move that fast, it was mostly the Torch bouncing into it and then bouncing back and the Avatar increased speed about 15 percent... it was almost as of the Torch bounced it back when the Torch itself bounced back...

It takes some speed (more than you can normally achieve with a gravity whip), but a collision like the one you originally described (giving the enemy ship ridiculous speed with the tractor beam) can give enough speed. An even more common way that the sats get lost is when the two ships get stuck together, which ultimately sends them both shooting off in opposite directions at ridiculous speeds. The sats end up practically on the opposite side of the arena at such speeds.
Honestly, I don't understand what's bothering you. When a collision happens, both ships are affected, depending on the mass variables. That is, ships with more mass are affected less. The Chmmr Avatar has a mass of 10, and the Thraddash Torch has a mass of 7. So it makes sense that a collision involving a particularly fast-moving Torch would cause the Avatar to move at a speed faster than the sats.
I see...I just was surprised that that happened and I spent a long time with a fleet of thraddash trying to replicate that...Thanks for anwsering my question.
