JPEG is NEVER lossless. It has a specific method of compression that involves taking all your carefully-positioned pixels and WIPING A DAMP RAG ALL OVER THEM.

Here, I'll fix Angel's post -

And one would think that the person who started this would be glad for any protectiveness towards trolls that we have.
Yes, that's the reason I created it.

I once created such a random planet texture generator, using the actual SC2 colormaps and height translation maps.
Is it anything to do with that clone of yours?
I needed a way to display the SC2 universe, including its planets, outside of UQM Wink.
Cool

(click to show/hide)

EDIT:
That is a SC2 planet's textures. (Kudos if oyu know which planet)

*hint* that is the planet's class 8 atmosphere you see.
I think some massive storms, even lighting up the dark side, would be cool Smiley

Oh, and add that sort of thing to your clone, Angelfish!

Kerr, welcome here!  The only thing I have to say about the original ship pictures is... it looks really cool but I can't realy see the whole thing even after zooming out quite a bit.  Is it possible for you to size the ship pics down?  Its no big deal I get the idea.
I made the textures of those planets using GIMP's plasma render, desaturate, colorize, and then made a bump map.
Let me get this straight, did you use GIMP to make this?  Wow, I haven't made a single thing in GIMP.

Angelfish, that random planet generator thingie seems pretty neat.

I'm the kind of person that uses Linux and seems to be a very literate adult but has no idea how to do anything code-wise beyond basic stuff.(such as su -<password> yum install uqm) Except I didn't install UQM that way...I used Add/Remove Software...
