I've put my lists on my MoO page. I've missed a bunch of games though, like Light of Altair, Haegemonia... and hey what is this?

About six months ago, we started the game, working title is "Master of Star Control". Unfortunately we are at the very beginning and the site has no English version. Only Russian.
But if anyone is interested, you can look through Google translator at:

I think in the beginning there was Master of Orion & Reunion. Imperium Galactica came later.

**unlurk**

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

This game is so unbelievably deep at times you'll find yourself drowning in it. One-More-Turn-Itis is extremely frequent. Infinite replayability, moreso if you spring for the expansion pack.

You may need to apply a few fixes and grab D3DWindower to get it running since it's about 11... 12 years old now. The fact that I haven't seen it mentioned before now shames you all if you consider yourself a strategy gamer Tongue

The only problem is that this game pretty much ruined 4X games for me. Nothing else compares to it. Civ 3 onwards felt like pale imitations. GalCiv could never hold my interest. Whenever I get my 4X itch, this is the game I wind up playing. For sixteen hours straight.

I'm now off to play on Transcend difficulty from scratch. See you in a few months.

No, it proves we're paying attention to the topic.  Alpha Centauri is set on a planet, not in space. Every single other game mentioned, so far as I know, is interplanetary at the least and usually interstellar.

Should give http://www.hazeron.com/ a try.  I was about to make a topic about it, and then get labeled as a bot probably because I just joined and it'd be my first post.  Hazeron is an in-development small scale MMO space colonization/war/diplomacy/empire building game, set in first person perspective primarily.  You can found your own empires or join other player's empires, and build starships and search for particularly high quality resources and such.  It's possible to command any of your ships carrying NPC officers using the comm as well, and you can design the ships in a tile/deck fashion, which looks a bit chunky at the moment, but is nevertheless continually improving.  There's not really much to fight wars over at the moment beyond proving who is better, but then again it's still a work in progress.  The developers have so far made no mention of ever charging for it, and when I asked how it's paid for, the lead developer shared the story of how the game is funded by the software company he founded in 1995.  Also if you get a motorcycle onto a ship, you can drive it into the sun.  I hope that's a decent persuasive blurb.  Here's some screen shots too.

That's the space station of my home planet.  In an effort to replace it, I ended up crashing it into the sea after switching around the life support and the engines' power supplies, where it broke down in a few days due to water damage.

There's an animal which was standing in the way of progress.  The animals on each planet are randomly generated using the same rules as those for player species.

That, I believe, was me taking a picture of the suns in a binary system after having fallen from a starship which was leaving a planet.  There isn't any falling damage implemented yet, not sure why, so it's not that uncommon right now for players to re-enter the atmosphere in nothing but a space suit after stepping off of a space station.

Is this project still going on? The MoSC forum is locked and I can't get a hold of Vasaka...
