Hostile, but still willing to trade?!
« on: June 27, 2010, 04:47:38 am »

I stumbled across this while reading the dialogue comparisons for the Druuge:

Quote
Before we go on, starship captain, be aware of the following
You have attacked our ships in an unlawful manner.
As a consequence, you have been ruled a `Hostile Trading Partner'
and your ship has been declared available for immediate salvaging.
This means that you MAY come unmolested to our central trading world
but that, in open space, you will be attacked by any and all Druuge you meet.

Wait a minute... There's a way that the Druuge can be hostile, but still be willing to trade with you??

I don't see anything replacing it in the UQM side, so I can only assume that it was truncated from the 3DO version, but how exactly did this happen in the PC version?

I'd imagine you'd just choose to fight them right off. Antigonize them as much as you wish. But to make sure you can still get the rosy sphere without waiting for the apocalypse, they had to let you trade anyway. As for in-game reasons, well, they want your money.

I never tried atttacking the Druudge...but what's even funnier is Greenish's reply when you attack his Melnorme ship and you say you're sorry or something and he forgives you but says DON'T attack your friends!  He certainly doesn't trade with you unless you make up with him.  I heard that if you keep attacking, you have to take a more drastic measure than an apology.  Like compensation.

I'm the kind of person that uses Linux and seems to be a very literate adult but has no idea how to do anything code-wise beyond basic stuff.(such as su -<password> yum install uqm) Except I didn't install UQM that way...I used Add/Remove Software...

Yup, and eventually, they simply refuse to trade with you.

Hm, what about if you're on bad terms with him and you run out of fuel? Does the master come to rescue??
