I'm just wondering how to use the ship videos fro mthe duckart folder. I found this old thread about it but I think the dir structure has changed since then, also I thought I saw it mentioned that the patch was removed from the current version is this true? I just want to know how to install them since I went through all the trouble of extracting my 3D0 CD.
Also is theb est version to play right now .6.2, or is it worth grabbing it form the SVN?
The directory structure is still the same on 0.6.2, but if you want to use the SVN version, you'll need to add some .rmp files. I don't think anyone has created those yet for the 3DO videos. If you want to give it a try creating those yourself, see here.
If you're just interested in playing the game, I'd stick with 0.6.2 for now. If you want to modify the code, I'd go with the SVN version. See here for the change log.

OK, to keep things simple I tried just using 0.6.2 but I can't figure out how to make any of the 3DO movies work. I can't even make the basic intro and victory movies play by following the information in the FAQ
If I just let the game install everything it makes a dir structure that doesn't follow the FAQ. You end up with an "content\packages\addons" dir. The FAQ on the other hand clearly says it should be "content/addons/". I've tried placing the "3dovideo" folder under both such locations but neither seem to work. My current dir structure is listed below and I've made sure I have it set to play the 3DO movies in the options as well. Can anyone tell me what I have to change to make it actually use the 3DO content?
I'm still having issues with the ship videos. That last link did fix the victory and starting videos but the ship videos themselves still don't work at all. Any tips on how to make those work?

Or you could use the FMV Mod and skip the subversion until 0.7.0 comes out. That's one of the reasons I made it besides being a complete nostalgic obsessive compulsive. It works even without the other 2 videos I added support in for (Crystal Dynamics logo and commercial)
